Release International is a Christian ministry working through local church partners in around 30 countries, helping persecuted Christians prayerfully, pastorally and practically.
It was founded in 1968, inspired by the testimony and ministry of Pastor Richard Wurmbrand. Following the demise of Communism in Eastern Europe and the increase in the persecution of Christians elsewhere in the world, the Ministry broadened its activities and changed its name to Release International.
The ministry is based on Hebrews 13 v 3: ‘Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.’

CALLING AND MISSION
The Calling and Mission defines the ministry of Release International.
CALLING:
Through the ministry of Pastor Richard Wurmbrand and Hebrews 13:3, Release International has been called by God to love and serve persecuted Christians.
MISSION:
Release’s Mission is to love and serve persecuted Christians by:
-
RAISING THEIR VOICE

Release’s primary mission is to raise the voice of persecuted Christians with Christians in the UK and through evangelical Christian churches.
2. GIVING THEM THE ‘TOOLS’ THEY NEED TO LIVE FOR JESUS CHRIST.
Release International delivers the international aspects of its ministry
by working in-country through local churches or organisations.
-
CALLING UK CHRISTIANS INTO FELLOWSHIP WITH THEM

Bringing friends and supporters into fellowship with persecuted Christians worldwide.
-
LEARNING LESSONS OF CHRISTIAN DISCIPLESHIP WITH THEM

Through many of Release’s outputs, they increase knowledge of the Biblical perspective on persecution.
-
MAINTAINING CHRISTIAN STEWARDSHIP TO HONOUR THEM

Release puts great emphasis on a relational approach to their Ministry.
